"Jim Nelson recalls his father taking him fishing on the lake owned by an old farmer.  Jim wrote: " Your new cookbook floats a pleasant aroma all the way down here.  And speaking of that, have you ever heard of fried coffee?  The old farmer charged us 50 cents a day for a boat and fishing privileges, with coffee thrown in.  The last phrase is accurate.  He literally threw ground coffee into a frying pan, added some water and held it over a wood fire.  ' A breakfast drink,' Jim concluded, 'fit only for the demons who live deeper than hell.' "
